Q & A - What is the Customary blessing in yiddish After each Sneeze

Q - What is the Customary prayers in yiddish After each Sneeze

A - I can only tell you what my family's usage was, rather than be definitive on the standards around the Yiddish-speaking world.

Anyway, with multiple sneezes:

First sneeze:   tzu gezunt  (to health!)

Second sneeze: gezunt af dir  (health on you!)

Third sneeze: gezunt af dir un lange yorn (health on you and long years)

Fourth sneeze: a ruach in dir; du'st zikh farkeltert (a curse on you; you've caught a cold)

The last one, I'm sure, was just my mother's attempt at humor, and it's probably not the proper way to say "catch a cold" in Yiddish, but it's what she said.

David A.
